If you've reviewed this website and think therapy isn't for you, coaching might be! Therapy and coaching are not the same. Therapy treats diagnosable mental illness, focusing on past and present dysfunction and relevant treatments, and tends toward longer duration. Coaching assumes reasonable mental health, focuses on present and future functioning, and is geared toward briefer duration engagement. Jen can discuss the differences with you as well as the stipulations and opportunities that go along with a coaching relationship with her. Please read on to learn more.
YOU MIGHT BE APPROPRIATE FOR COACHING WITH JEN IF:
You're frustrated or stuck, but feel emotionally stable.
You're not in physical, relationship, legal, or financial crisis.
You're not under the care of a psychiatrist, or if you are, you're not taking more than one or two psychiatric medications.
You haven't been diagnosed with PTSD, C-PTSD, or personality or dissociative disorders.
You don't have a history of suicide attempts or homicidality or psychiatric hospitalization.
You don't have a significant history of addiction, or if you do, you're in recovery.
You have decent sleeping, eating, meditation, and/or exercise practices.
You have pretty good social support and you experience joy regularly.
You're curious, creative, and confident -- with good imagination or the desire to cultivate it.
You're on a spiritual path, relatively comfortable there, and aspiring to work more and more subtly and skillfully with the negative emotions.
You're willing to see a therapist (not Jen) if coaching uncovers the need for it.
PLEASE (RE)CONSIDER JEN AS A THERAPIST IF:
You're in distress and don't have good support, have been diagnosed with chronic serious mental illness (e.g., trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, high anxiety); are under the care of a psychiatrist and/or are taking more than one medication to manage your distress.
IF YOU'RE NOT SURE WHICH PATH IS BEST, JEN WILL ASSESS AND HELP YOU DECIDE:
Via phone call or written assessment (e.g., PCL-5, PSQ-2, AUDIT-10) Jen can rule clients in or out for coaching.
IMPORTANT: Whether Jen is acting as a therapist or coach, under her therapy license she is ALWAYS a mandated reporter of child/elderly abuse and/or threats of suicide or homicide. Please note if you opt for coaching with Jen you cannot also be or become a therapy client of hers, and if you are or have been a therapy client of Jen's, you cannot also be or become her coaching client. If you proceed to the Mindful Worldly Path Coaching website, link below, you are indicating understanding of everything on this page.
